Hope through hydroponics.

The mission of City Urban Ponics (C.U.P.) is to provide hope to the hurting and nutrition to the hungry through a hydroponic community garden.

We plan to provide a safe place to those living in poverty with a green space to work, to learn, to build something, and to grow in personal confidence, all while learning skills to successfully earn a living. This project will only be possible through grant funding to secure a building and gardening location to support a community hydroponic garden initiative.

The project is designed to allow individuals needing income to come and learn several job skills including, but not limited to: Gardening, customer service, cash handling, packaging, sales, and transporting goods. We believe the City Urban Ponics (C.U.P.) initiative its the overall LIFT mission of leaving people better than the way we found them in loving, investing, and transforming them to a better place within their families and community.

Hydroponics

Hydroponics is the practice of growing plants using only water, nutrients, and a designated growing medium. The word “hydroponics” comes from the roots “hydro” meaning “water,” and “ponos” meaning “laboring with your hands”. This unique method of gardening does not use soil.

Need for Funding

This City Urban Ponics initiative will require grant funding and community support to establish a designated location for harvesting produce year-round, providing the gardening equipment needed to set up this hydroponics gardening project, obtaining a transportation vehicle, and establishing startup payroll expenses for community job opportunities. Our project has already garnered enthusiastic support and interest in the Slavic Village Community. We believe achieving our goals will positively impact community members with job opportunities, educational experiences, supplemental nutritional resources, sustainability for community economic growth, and positive engagement for the Slavic Village Community.
